The Champion Town Board met in special session on Tuesday, April 21, 1998 at 4:00PM at the Municipal Building. Present were Supervisor Buckley, Councilmen Watkins, Miller and Stewart and Highway Superintendent Martin.

Councilman Buzzell was absent.

The following sealed bids were received for the purchase of a tractor, mowing equipment and a backhoe.

Waldroff Equipment……………….Tractor, mowers and backhoe $75,250.00

Widrick’s-Sandy Creek……………Tractor and mowers $66,645.00

Backhoe $ 6,614.95

Widrick’s-Lowville………………….Tractor and mowers $64,975.00

Backhoe $ 6,614.95

The Board held a discussion to compare the specifications of the equipment. Motion by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. Watkins to award the bid to Widrick’s Equipment-Lowville as the lowest responsible competitive bidder. Ayes-4, Nays-0. Motion carried.

Supervisor Buckley reported to the Board about his discussions with members of the Zoning Board of Appeals and recommended appointing William Tribol and William Nier as co-chairman for the remainder of the 1998 calendar year. Motion by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. Miller to appoint Mr. Tribol and Mr. Nier as co-chairman for the remainder of 1998. Ayes-4, Nays-0. Motion carried.

Highway Superintendent Martin reported that the road tour has been changed to Friday, May 8, 1998 at 1:00PM.

Motion by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Stewart to go into executive session for the purpose of discussing personnel. Ayes-4, Nays-0. Motion carried. Session began at 4:56PM.

Motion by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Stewart to resume regular session. Ayes-4, Nays-0. Motion carried. Session resumed at 5:10PM.

Motion by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. Watkins to increase the number of full time highway employees to ten (10) and to hire John Sech on the recommendation of Highway Superintendent Martin. Ayes-4, Nays-0. Motion carried.

Motion by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. Miller to adjourn. Meeting adjourned at 5:15PM.
