DOG LICENSES: Information on licensing your dog is available from the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets. The fee for licensing is:
$7.50 Spayed or neutered dog
$15.50 Unspayed or neutered dog
Cats do not require licenses.

Important Changes in Rabies Vaccination Requirements:
Effective January 15, 2006, no dog license may expire after the expiration date of the dog's rabies vaccination. If your dog is due for a rabies vaccination booster during the next year, you must have it boostered now in order to have a full year license. If you choose not to have your dog vaccinated now you will still need to pay the full annual fee and you will need to renew your dog license again after it has been vaccinated.

SPORTING LICENSES: Sport licenses for the 2007-2008 hunting season will go on sale in August 13, 2007. The licenses are computer generated, 2"x3-3/8" and printed on yellow, plastic Valeron stock. The DECALS system eliminates the need for license applications, stamps, and card stock carcass tag sets.

Resident applicants need to bring their NYS drivers license. First time applicants must provide proof of hunting, bowhunting, and/or trapping eligibility. Acceptable proof may be either a hunting or bow education certificate or a previous NYS license. Military personnel must present their work orders to be eligible for a NYS resident license.

 

TRANSFER SITE: The Town of Champion transfer site is open on Friday from 8:00am - 4:00pm and on Saturday from 8:00am - 2:00pm. The site accepts trash in clear bags at a cost of $2.50/bag and separated recyclables at no charge. $10/$20 punch cards may be purchased from either the Town Clerk's office or at the transfer site.
